Going for status quo? really?

There are foots in both camps here - one side who want the changes to be made while on the other quarter, they are taking side on the status quo - hoping the BN will stay in power on the pretext they can either continue reaping the benefits or simply because the policies implemented and its political climate so far have not affected them, just yet.

Some claimed that had it not been BN and its coalitions, we wouldn't be having KLCC twin tower, Sepang circuit, KLIA, Cyberjaya, Putrajaya today...Thinking back now, was that really a great achievement or was that just an expectation considering of how much the taxpayer's money were spent on the last 25 years? Are we saying the taxpayers' money of 100 billion ringgit that was either spent or gone into someone's pocket the last 25 years, would not had set off any economic growth and that we would not be seeing any iconic buildings and cities today??? It would be ridiculous if that turns out to be the case considering how humongous the taxpayers money were used up the last 25 years. Being entrusted as coalition parties to lead the nation to economic growth and putting Malaysia on the map was the minimal expectation of a government wasn't it? With that being said, KLCC twin tower, Sepang F1 circuits and others completed mega projects were no feat of giant leap to the moon, so to speak, other than simply a fruit of expectations we set out for our government along the tax payers' money spent over last 25 years - it was nothing to shout about!

On contrary, am trying to understand in retrospective, what possibly might have happened if at all, BN was not ruling Malaysia the last 25 years, because the social issues through the video clips I am seeing every day in facebook - the crime of breaking in, walk-in robberies, snatch bag, etc are not getting any better other than getting worse by the day. It makes me wonder - was it really the heriditary DNA problem of Malaysian offenders in general that led to high crime rate or was it because of the accumulated wrongdoings and its effects of the government who did not spend taxpayers' money wisely the last 25 years ( i.e.. investing and building more hospitals, police stations, public infrastructure, human development" through education ) and that now we are seeing the negative repercussion of it??? - all these increased social issues are still counting by the day.....When one is able to "make end meets" gained through 'effective' education. who would want to snatch bags and scare the hell out of everyone right?

What worth mentioning is also some of these unfortunate ones in our society do not have the opportunities like some of us do today to think out of the box and make a living, these same group of people are relying heavily on guidance of all forms in surviving. Without right guidance and effective assistance in all aspects by governments in educating and developing their social and mental consciousness ( don't get me wrong, this will open up another discussion that might possibly link to the education system issue we are having today), it's easy to presume hell might have broken loose and they are more incline to misstep in the wrong path, resorting to all sort of crimes in getting easy money. The offenders, however are only human and that is the nature of human in surviving through every possible means, although their ruthless way of surviving was too much of our liking. So the question is, did government do enough the last 25 years in addressing these group of people and preventing other potential crime-offender from falling into this same group who contribute to the crime rates? Looking at the current state of the situation and past, it seems to suggest otherwise.

There is a a correlation between crimes and our education system and I view with grave concern on the effectiveness of our education system - our education system is totally screwed up and I remember it had never once worked for me, and possibly for others as well, and this could explains the reasons why I was never interested in learning and just gave up in attending classes during my school time as Science 1 student. For instance, some of us could not see the value proposition it brings when comes to Alam dan Manusia and Kemahiran Hidup when the whole world is revolving around science and technology, Computers subjects were never taught during that time when internet phenomenon was on the rise and that Multimedia Super Corridor was a big thing in Cyberjaya. It's no surprised why Malaysia has huge shortages of computer engineers today simply because our education system all these while was not effectively designed on the outset and structured in a way to to prepare the next generation with industrial skillsets and the people who potentially can be the next Steve Job. Thinking back, I just couldn't relate the things I learned back in school to the skillsets that are required in the society that pull nine to five jobs today. The values it brings in how the way the education system was run was almost non-existent as the whole idea of the our education then was only to test and challenge our memory capacity rather than educating us thinking in a more practical way. By playing truants every day in school, my friend and I can almost agreed that we exposed ourselves and learned much more than ever what was being taught in school.

When one is not born with silver spoon in one's mouth, the only way of surviving is through education or guidance or even relying on government to generate jobs for them.. Having said that, however if these group of potential offenders are not in those silver spoon group, then they would need to rely heavily on positive guidance and education, but today the education system provided to them are nothing good other than just a system to merely challenge their limited brain capacity in memorizing the theories, they were sitting in the class with their mind of out their boredom. In hindsight, the whole education system all these while were only inducing them in skipping schools seeing as how those monotonous subjects learned in school could not be easily related to the skillsets required of them to succeed in society. When they couldn't relate what they learned and the reasons they should be learning it, they inevitably run into a high chance in taking the criminal path to survive as taking the conventional path is a mysterious feat they couldn't rationalize how it helps them to meet the demand of the society. As a result, as when they are thrown out in the society being unprepared and unskilled, they couldn't compete with others  in making a living, resulted them taking the easy way out - the 'criminal' route in surviving as this is where the easy money is coming from. This may briefly explain why we had so many social issues today.

In short, Malaysia' education system and environment safety are standing still in a world that is passing them by. The police can keep on apprehending the culprits, but until the government fixes and revamps our education system, we are not going to see crimes rate going down any time soon. Social-economic development through revamping our education system and putting up check and balance in the institution in preventing corruptions are the ways in eradicating the social issues we see today simply because if you channel all the resources and "you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, you teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime"

Not forgetting is also how the education entry to the local University today are based on the color of skin rather than being determined by merits..yes..even our education is being politicized to a whole different level too.

I am not sure where the RM100 billion over went missing but what I am certain is that on moral and economical ground, had these huge amount of taxpayers money were poured back into the nations' developments, the positive multiplier effects would have been unimaginable and it could have made a lot of wonders, because in economic perspective, a ringgit could breed another ringgit or more when it changes hands.

Those 'missing' money could been used in economic and social development in

1) building more smart schools and police stations
2) revamping the education system in making it "SMART" that the skillsets obtained are relevant to the demand of the corporate world
3) raising the income of teachers and polices so that we get quality services in return
4) putting a check and balance system in place into the constitutions to prevent corruptions as opposed to unwise spending as these, all the money saved then can be channeled back to the educational and environmental safety improvement.
5) building more public transports like MRT and enhanced LRT could have been developed then and not only now, and the congestion in KL has been nothing but terrible today - Averagely, we see 2 hours loss for 'a' person on the road in a day, and it's massive loss when we factor in the 7.5 million people in Klang Valley in a year.  Those productivity loss are GDP loss from economic perspective. It was claimed there wasn't enough money to develop this scale of public transport back then, surely it wasn't enough as the money was unwisely used elsewhere, wasn't it? Project of Making Roti Canai in Space, are you kidding me?

Had the blueprint of national development plans been set out and properly executed through the 'missing' money, we would have been better off today than it was before and that we may possibly had became a developed nation like Singapore or South Korea by now

Long story short, in the context of social issues we see so frequently today, retrospectively speaking, it's the result of direct or indirect taxpayers money that had gone missing the last 25 years, and those money could have been used wisely in the socio-economic development for our country. The blueprint of the national development plan has been terribly managed and executed. Or rather should we say it was well managed and the 'missing' money was deliberately planned out?

I do appreciate how far our country has came a long way, my only dissatisfaction is that our country' economic and social development and its progress in some quarters, were not making good headways as it was supposed to be. It could have been better.

Going for status quo? really? Consider the chances how the continuous social issues might possibly affect your friends, relatives and all down the roads if we give UMNO another term. It's a really a time for them to own their failure, and a time for us to make a change.
