Hooray - Liverpool won the 7th time - FA cup
Once again Liverpool came back with another epic win, a dramatic fashion win when everybody would least expect it to happen. I don't understand how it happened and why is it happening so often. Seeing as it was another one of the coming-back win again, it surely didn't give me a good heart while watching it. Of course it wasn't something like what you saw in the Champion League last year where all the goosebumps were running over you during the entire period when they came back and equalised from 3 goals down in the first half, but this time only I consider it as dull game in the beginning and then a more pulsating game on the remaining second half. Liverpool was trailing 2 goals from behind until Gerard equalised to make the scoreline 2 - 2. That wasn't finished yet! West Ham came back and scored another goal and I thought that was it, as the game was approaching near the end. As they said, West Ham would have won the FA Cup if it wasn't for Gerrard. Gerard - last minute drama again equalised the third goal in the 91 minutes injury time and sent the game into extra 30 minutes. Both teams were worn out in the whole extra time and the game was held to 3 - 3 until when it mattered most, Peipe Reina rose well to the occasion and did what he had to do as a goalkeeper - giving his amazing saves in the penalty shootout and sent Liverpool lifting the trophy for the 7th time. The highlight was that his two or three wonderful saves on the trot with his incredible reflexes - a world class feat any teams in the world would envy of. Some of the heart-pounding games I watched last season are:-
Liverpool - Arsenal ( 2 -1 ) - I was shouting my throat off when Mellor scored the last goal in the last minute of injury time. My brother, a diehard fan of Arsenal was watching it with his two hands held up. haha
Liverpool - Olympiakos ( 3 - 1 ) - Liverpool needs at least 3 goals to get into the next round, and when the running game has became apparent that Liverpool could not come close to scoring anymore when all they need was just another goal to get into next round, I just couldn't help but went mental when I heard the commentator shouting GERARRRRRDDDDDDDDDDDDD in 86 minutes. Steven Gerard scored the third goal and sent Liverpool into the quarterfinal round of Champion League.
Liverpool - Ac Milan CHAMPION LEAGUE final ( 3 - 3 ) - I was speechless and goosebumps was running over me when I saw how they INSTANBULLY came back from 3 goals down. Till today I still don't believe how they did it. UnBELIVERPOOL! After the game went on for extra 30 minutes, both teams were still held scoreless and Liverpool won the penalty shoot-out 4 - 3.
I don't know why. Liverpool seem to specialise in doing things the hard way. This is why in football, you would never know what will happen until the very end and it explains why football is such a beautiful sport to watch and play. Golf?? Nah...May be I will be considering it only when the pace of life is much slower for me later on, until then I would be happily appreciating and enjoying every moment of what Astro is doing now - broadcasting the sheer energy and the NEVER-SAY-DIE attitude football in EPL and Champion League.
